Birthday Celebration + Surprise: Hukad sa Golden Cowrie

Today is November 11, and it’s my mom’s 49th birthday and we decided to held our lunch at Hukad sa Golden Cowrie located in Ayala Terraces. We already had our table reservation the day before and had a little set-up and help from the staffs to organize the little surprise we planned for our Mom.

After we went to Basilica Sto. Niño to held a birthday thanksgiving and light some candles, we prayed and thanked the Lord for another bountiful year for my mom and to us.

We then headed to Ayala but my sister needed to buy the cake for the surprise so she reasoned out to check the reservation at the restaurant. It needs to be a surprise so my mom shouldn’t know anything about it. So me and my mom stroll around the department store and fortunately she found some clothes that she thought would fit her and glad it did! She finally decided to take the two out of the three items she fitted and paid it out on the cashier and my sister just finally got back. And at that time we headed to the Hukad sa Golden Cowrie because it’s already 12 in the noon.

By the time we entered the resto, there are already plenty of people dining in but we are not that worried for we already had our recent reservation. We were guided by the staff right at the very corner. As usual we were handed the menu book and we ordered for appetizers, main course, dessert and refreshment.

It took around 20-30 minutes to serve all the food we chose except for the desserts because we told them to serve it later on.



Honestly, this is the best calamari I’ve ever had. I have no words to describe the taste that much but it’s very remarkable to my taste buds. The crunch and crisp is just right on point and the softness of the calamari is unpredictable. I really thought it would be hard for me to munch it out but it’s all great!

Baked Scallops

Though I am not really into scallops this one is delectable. The creaminess and the taste of the butter are there and the scallop itself is one of a kind, soft and juicy.

Main Course

Crispy Pata (Large)

I never thought my sister would order this huge plate of Crispy Pata! Yet the tenderness and the crispiness of the pata was sumptuous. Not to mention the sauce and side appetizer atsara. All good!

Grilled Pork Belly

Every time I dine on any Filipino cuisine my always go-to main course will always be the grilled pork belly and it always doesn’t fail my satisfaction. The meat is tender and juicy, well-grilled and tasted to perfection.


We really didn’t order for the monggos, you’ll get it free when you order a plate of Crispy Pata. And the taste? Undescribable. We all loved the creaminess and Pinoy-vibes with every scoop of it. Always taste great when spread on your hot plain rice.


Pineapple Cucumber Juice

Never thought of this Cucumber and Pineapple Juice mixed together. It’s really refreshing and herby. It’s like drinking a pitcher of green tea. Our birthday girl loved it a lot!


Mouthwatering isn’t it? Sweet delights after that massive food takeover awhile ago, just to lessen that stuffiness feeling.

All the food we had been above expectations. Aside from its very local ambiance, the staffs are very cheerful and approachable. Not to mention how they willingly cooperated with our surprise for our Mom in which they lively sang a birthday song in the middle of our eating and our pretty young birthday girl started to get teary-eyed. She was shocked and amazed at the same time.

We are very thankful for the cooperation of the Hukad staffs in helping us organize the plan which perfectly turned out great.

Such a wonderful dine-in experience here in HUKAD SA GOLDEN COWRIE AYALA. I will surely get back and recommend this place to my friends who would like to spend their gatherings on a lavish Filipino restaurant.
